São Paulo is the biggest city in South America and the main financial center of Brazil. This is the heart of the country´s economy, a vibrant place full of interesting attractions to discover.The importance of São Paulo is relatively new and the city only started to have an important role in Brasil during the 20th century. Until the middle of the 19th century São Paulo was a small village with a few thousands inhabitants. The development started with the coffee production, followed by the industrialization process, and ending with the financial activity that now drives the city.A place with more than 11 million people, São Paulo is a melting pot of nationalities with a diversity that is revealed in the architecture of the buildings, the city´s culinary delights and the different styles of people that live around here.This city has the best tourism infrastructure in the country, (tirar “to receive tourists”) with a wide variety of hotels, hospitals, places for events and congresses, museums, theatres, cinemas, cultural heritage sites, parks, concert halls, restaurants, bars, street fairs, shopping malls and specialized retail districts.Every year about 10 million people visit São Paulo to do business, go shopping or simply enjoy the city´s attractions.
